This is an eight months’ project (October 2020 – May 2021) funded by UNICEF in which WASH Alliance Kenya is mobilizing communities to construct and use toilets, a shift from Open Defecation (OD) to Open Defecation Free(0DF) through Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS). It is implemented in Marsabit County (Saku and Moyale sub-counties) and Kilifi County ( Kilifi North and Rabai sub-counties).
Activities
- Target counties institute CLTS for UHC coordination mechanisms composed of national and county level staff and target areas political leaders.
- Conduct training of 70 Hygiene Promotion officers, 20 CHAs, and 10 CHWs on household hygiene promotion and COVID-19 prevention and control in 758 villages in 2 counties.
- Target counties institute CLTS for UHC coordination mechanisms composed of national and county level staff and target areas political leaders.
- Support Frontline Staff (health workers, volunteers, and project staff) by issuing them with PPEs to ensure their safety during the delivery of services.
- Target communities are mobilized to construct toilets with their own resources
